The Biography

Born in the capitol city of Richmond, living in Pickett Court in Blackstone, as a toddler, with his family, Joe was fated to return to Blackstone, his native land, to continue in his profession of helping families. He started working in the family funeral business at the age of 12 and continued through high school. He joined the U.S. Air Force to continue his education through the use of the GI Bill. Upon Honorable Disharge, he again returned home to help families in their time of grief and need for over two decades in Blackstone. His ministry in the funeral profession has enabled him to establish a new funeral home.

Our Beginnings

Joseph McMillian has served the Nottoway County and surrounding counties families for over two and a half decades to include: the Towns of Burkeville, Crewe, and Blackstone.

As well as the Towns of Farmville, Mechanicsville, South Hill, the Counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Chesterfield,Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Hanover, Henrico,and Prince Edward, and the Cities of Richmond and Roanoke.

Also the connecting families of those living abroad in areas not aforementioned. Joseph McMillian has served them with the dedication and will strive to with honesty.

Therefore, he has finally attained his dedication and dreams by coming home, opening his own business and serving those who are in need at the most difficult time in their life-the loss of a dear loved one.

Our Founder

Joseph McMillian is a second generation funeral director who at the age of 12 years old, began working in the funeral home.

He made his start by washing vehicles, carrying flowers, seeing families and friends and directing them to the appropriate place they needed to be, cutting grass and even working and helping with funerals.

Since the funeral business was instilled in him, it has become a major part of his self-being. He has been exposed to many situations during his years of work that has enabled him to focus on dedication to the needs of the families he serves.

Joseph feels that what he does and provides for the grieving families is just what he would do for his own. He continues to view his profession in the funeral business as not just a job, but his passion and ministry to the families he serves in Southside, Virginia.
