Marjorie Patterson Abernathy

Marjorie Patterson Abernathy, age 88, of Blackstone, VA, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018, in her home where she was born to Freddie and Ruth Patterson, her parents. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Carl “Junie” Hodge. Marjorie is survived by her husband of 71 years, Carlton Abernathy, Sr.; son, Corky Abernathy (Diania) of Blackstone; daughter, Debbie Hodge (Pete) of Blackstone; four grandchildren, Nikki Clements (Jeff), Robin Alvis, Katie Gillen (Stephen) and Mary Grace Sulc (Matt); eight great-grandchildren, Luke and Mason Clements, Makayla, JoJo, and Jacob Alvis and Mia Payton, Emily and Lyndsey Hodge. Viewing will take place one hour prior to chapel funeral services at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road (Bus. Hwy. 460), near Blackstone. Burial will follow in the Patterson Family Cemetery, 2306 Yellow Bird Road, Blackstone. The family will also receive friends at Rocky Hill Bellefonte Grange, 2117 Rocky Hill Road, Blackstone, following the services and burial.
