William Wade Maitland, 34, of DeWitt, VA, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 14, 2011.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Bernadine and William Tatman and paternal grandfather, William H. Maitland.
He is survived by his parents, William Larry and Stephany Tatman Maitland of Stony Creek; paternal grandmother, Mary Lucy Maitland of Wilsons; a sister, Lisa Maitland of Rawlings; a brother, Forest Maitland (Nikki) of Dinwiddie; three nieces; one nephew; eight aunts; five uncles, along with many other relatives and friends.
Wade was employed by Ditch Witch of Virginia. He was a lover of hunting and outdoor activities and was a member of the Ole Henry Hunt Club of Ford. In his spare time he built trucks for mud bogs and when participating in regional mud bogs he was better known to fans as Swamp Rat. He loved his time spent with his many friends and the Swamp Rat family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 16, 2011, from
3 6 p.m. at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road (Bus. Hwy. 460) near Blackstone. Graveside services will be held at Butterwood Methodist Church Cemetery, 2411 Darvills Road, Blackstone, VA on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
