William Dennis Bowen

William Dennis Bowen, 82, of McKenney, Va., passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at his residence.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Loretta Howerton Bowen; two daughters, Christie Bowen Fleming and husband, Lawrence of McKenney; and Bonnie Bowen Harrison and husband, Lyndon of Colonial Heights; five grandchildren, Lauren and Will Fleming; Victoria and Olivia Harrison; and Angela Edwards; a predeceased granddaughter, Taylor Brooke Harrison.

William is also survived by a brother, Aaron Bowen (Mary Rose Tunnell); many nieces and nephews. He was the youngest of nine siblings.

William served in the US Army in France during the Korean War. He began and operated Bowen Custom Bulldozing of Dinwiddie for over 45 years.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Bus. Hwy 460 near Blackstone. He was a longtime member of the Darvills Ruritan Club, a very dedicated and supporting member of Mansons United Methodist Church for most of his life, where he served as Cemetery Chairman for many years. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Friday, April 24, 2009 at Mansons United Methodist Church, Mansons Church Rd., McKenney with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
