Virginia Price Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia Cleaton Lucas Price announces her passing on January 20, 2026. She was born in Amelia County in February 1928, one of eleven children born to Gertrude Dabney Cleaton and Kokish W. Cleaton. Virginia is survived by her three children, Donna Lucas Bonelli, Peggy Lucas Page (John) and Benjamin Lusac. She was a beloved grandmother to Jason (Julie), Michael (Melissa) and Stephen (Kayla) and Melissa Carstarphen (Jeff), Dana Johnson and Peter Bonelli. Her great grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Reagan, Colby, Bridgette, Hunter, Reid, Charlotte and Grant brought her great joy. She is also survived by two brothers, Donald Cleaton (Beverly) and Raymond Cleaton (Connie). She was preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin T. Lucas and Donald Paul Price.

Virginia loved growing and canning vegetables which she shared with everyone. One of her favorite things was going out early in the morning when the birds were singing to gather vegetables or work in her garden. She was an amazing cook and it was always a treat to sit at her table. She loved to read and write poetry and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.

Mom had a quiet strength and strong faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church and Believer’s Fellowship Church for many years. No matter circumstances, she trusted in Him to show her the way. We are grateful for her Christian leadership in the lives of her family.

Our dear mother and grandmother lived a strong and blessed life and we will miss her but know she is rejoicing with her loved ones in heaven and someday we will all meet again.

A private graveside service is planned for a later date. Arrangements by the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA 23824.
