Virginia Peel Obituary

Virginia Lewis Peel, 90, went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011.

Virginia lived in Arkansas for 50 years. She is a life member of the Arkansas Alumni Association, the Arkansas Retired Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Garland County Teachers Association. She was a classroom teacher for 26 years. Virginia was a veteran of World War II. She served in The Womens Army Auxiliary Corps and The Womens Army Corps. She had duty at the Los Angeles Port of Embarkation and in New Guinea. She is a charter member of the Womens Military Memorial in Washington, D.C.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Peel of Arkansas, her mother and father Linwood A. and Lucy Pearl Lewis, four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by one brother, Gilliam Lewis and wife, Doris; two sisters, Rayzelle Meredith, husband, Pete; Carolyn Copeland (Paul Kist), all of Virginia.

She came to Virginia Beach, VA in 2004 to live. She loved to play the organ.

There will be a memorial service at Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road (Bus. Hwy. 460), Blackstone, VA on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11 A.M. The family will receive friends at 10 A.M. prior to the service with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery with military honors.
