Shelton Drew Daniel, age 75, of Blackstone, VA, died July 17, 2011.
Drew was a member of the Virginia Army National Guard for 37 years, and retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 from MATES, Fort Pickett.
He was a well-known country music singer/musician in Southside Virginia.
Drew was preceded in death by a son, Drew Stevie D Stevens Daniel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lottie Stevens Scottie Daniel; one brother, Newton Baker Daniel of Kenbridge, VA, and several nieces and nephews.
Drew was a member of VFMA and the Clark Family and Friends for many years and played with Jody Rainwater and The Swingsters. He inspired many people in his teaching of music through the years. Drew was also a long time member of the staff band of the Southside Virginia Opry in Victoria.
The family will receive friends 6 8 P.M., Tuesday, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road (Bus. Hwy. 460) near Blackstone. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, July 20, 2011, in Lakeview Cemetery, Blackstone.
