Ruby Royall Obituary

Ruby Harris Royall, of Blackstone, entered into peaceful rest with her Lord on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Ray Royall, parents Thomas H. and Gladys M. Harris, brother Thomas H. Harris, Jr. and his wife Diane Harris, and brother-in-law Cary Ogden.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Tony Royall (Terry) of Blackstone, and Kenneth Royall of Chesapeake, sisters Estelle Ogden and Ann Harris, and brother Reed Harris (Cindy).  She was employed as office manager at Levi-Strauss and Virginia Apparel, and more recently with Frankie Williamson, General Contractor.

Ruby was a faithful and dedicated member of Blackstone Baptist church, where she served in roles as deacon, Sunday school teacher, Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) director, as well as many others.  She was active in the Blackstone community, delivering meals to the elderly and shut-in and served on the Nottoway Literacy Board.  Ruby was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on her beloved UVA Cavaliers.  When the UVA football teams were struggling, she even wrote letters of advice to Coach Al Groh.

Ruby loved all children, her family, and cooking.  She was happiest with a baby in her arms.
