Ronald Howard “Ronnie” Dalton of Blackstone, VA, born November 30, 1961 entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at his home just shy of his 64th birthday. He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Jackie Powell Dalton; father, James Dalton; his son and very best friend, Hunter Dalton (Clara); daughters, Carie Watters (Mike) and Tiffany LaFontaine (Jason); and eight grandchildren, Micaylah and Kaden Rickman, TJ and Maggie Watters, AJ Williams, Hayden and Landen Boyd and Remmington Dalton. Ronnie also leaves behind his dogs, Ginger, Rollie, Millie and Pepper. Ginger, specifically, was devoted to Ronnie and faithfully stayed by his side at home. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Wilsie Dalton; his grandparents, Walter and Exie Dalton, and Henry and Bessie Oldham.
Ronnie served in the Virginia Army National Guard where he left to start his own business, Dalton’s Automotive and Towing. After many successful years in the automotive and towing business, Ronnie went back to work at Fort Pickett where he eventually had to retire on disability when cancer began to take a toll on him. Ronnie enjoyed woodworking and made some beautiful things! He gave many of his items as gifts over the years. Ronnie enjoyed hunting and fishing; loved target shooting and reloaded much of his own ammo. He also enjoyed cooking barbeque, he made the best and could grill the best steak ever! He was a pretty good cook. Ronnie was an endless source of advice on how to fix things. He spent hours researching sightings and watching documentaries on Big Foot (Sasquatch). Ronnie was fascinated by this creature. He enjoyed nature and being outside. Ronnie will be sorely missed by many.
