He grew up in Colonial Heights and attended and graduated from Petersburg High School. He also served in the United States Airforce. He retired from Verizon Telephone Company (C&P, Bell Atlantic) after more than 35 years of service. He was an amazing carpenter and built furniture, cabinets, bookcase, toys and even the house he raised his family in. He coached little league football in Dinwiddie when his children were young and was a Sunday school teacher at Crawford United Methodist Church. He was a perfectionist at everything he did and it showed in his work. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed time in the woods with his son and grandsons hunting deer and calling up turkeys with his hand carved wooden turkey callers. Family was extremely important to him and this showed in all he did. “Pop” enjoyed watching his grandsons and great grandchildren playing baseball, hockey or just running around the yard. He always made time for his family. He was a man of God, a true gentleman and family man and a blessing to all that knew him. “Pop” was so loved and will be truly missed.
