Robert Hugh "Buck" Dews

Robert Hugh Buck Dews, 87, died Thursday, January 19, 2012. A retired farmer and dairyman, he lived most of his life in Wilsons, VA. He served for many years with the Virginia National Guard and was a member and past master of Bellefonte Grange. He was also a loyal, long time member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Mr. Dews was predeceased by his parents, Robert Clifford and Essie Hawkes Dews; by his wife, Irene Ulrey Dews, and by his wife, Dorothy Hogan Dews.

Survivors include his sisters, Merle Dews Wood of Louisa, Virginia; Shirley Dews Jones (Ray) of Blackstone, Virginia; Peggy Dews Cook (Joseph) of State College, Pennsylvania; and Lyndall Dews Springston (Wendell) of Yorktown, Virginia. Others surviving are step-daughters, Patricia Ulrey Hoke and Judy Ulrey Wilton, as well as the children of Dorothy Hogan Dews.

Visitation will be from 6 8 p.m., Friday, January 20 at Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road (Bus. Hwy. 460), near Blackstone. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Grace United Methodist Church, Wilsons, Virginia, with interment in the church cemetery.
