Richard Leon Suggs, Sr., 60, of Blackstone, VA died Monday, March 24, 2008.

He was a U.S. Navy Seabee and combat veteran of the Vietnam War.

Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol Suggs; four children, R.L. Suggs, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Amelia, Kenneth Suggs(Bernice) of Blackstone, Melinda Suggs Cheatham(Steve) of Wisconsin and Kevin Suggs(Amanda) of Blackstone. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Chelsey, Kaitlyn, Brandy, Coleman and Haley Suggs, and Jennifer Orendorff and Jeremy Taylor; a great grandson, Gabriel Orendorff; sister, Diana Craig and brother, Jerry Suggs, both of Florida.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Suggs Family Cemetery, Green Hill Rd.(Rt. 609) near Blackstone.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Kenston Forest School, Scholarship Fund, 75 Ridge Road, Blackstone, VA 23824.
