Rebecca Palmore Hood

Rebecca Palmore Hood of Roanoke, Virginia formerly of South Hill, Virginia passed away on May 29,2026 at the age of 88. She was born on May 30, 1937 in Blackstone, Virginia to James Keith Palmore and Eunice Wray Palmore. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 70 years Harold D. Hood.

 She is survived by sons Alan (Nancy) and Brian (Rebecca). Granddaughters Jacqui (Nolan), Ashlee (Aaron) and great granddaughter Anna.

Rebecca worked for 30+ years for the Mecklenburg County school system as a teacher’s aide and library aide. She loved working in education and working with the kids. Anyone who knew her would likely hear her before they saw her. She was never shy and would give anyone her opinion on any subject whether they wanted it or not. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 11-12:30 P.M., Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA 23824. A funeral procession will take place at 12:30 PM, for graveside funeral services in Lakeview Cemetery.
