Rebecca Haney Bishop

Rebecca Haney Abernathy “Becky” Bishop, age 91, of Blackstone, VA, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025. She was the wife of Charlie “Tom” Abernathy and Thomas “Bud” Bishop.  Becky was also preceded by three sons, M. “Andy” Abernathy, Stevens Simpson, and W. Maxey Abernathy and a sister, Jessie Huff. She is survived by one son, James Olan “Red” Abernathy of Blackstone, VA; four grandchildren,  “Bud” Abernathy II (Natasha) of Crewe, VA, Amanda Abernathy of Amelia, VA, Crystal Abernathy of Crewe, VA and W. Maxey Abernathy, Jr. of Blackstone; four great grandchildren, James Abernathy III, Jacob Abernathy, Laura Bella Abernathy and Willow Abernathy-Link; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M., Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Blackstone Chapel of the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA  23824. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, September 25, 2025 in the Grace Baptist Temple, 1010 S. Main St., Blackstone.  Burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department, 318 Church St., Blackstone, VA  23824 or to the Nottoway County Emergency Squad, P.O.
