Nell Buynitzky Obituary

Nell Buynitzky, 97, of Waynesboro, VA, and formerly of Arlington, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Summit Square.

She was born September 29,1910, in Fitzgerald, GA, the daughter of the late Alma Roberts Jones and Almonte Epes Jones.

She lived much of her early life in Hendersonville, NC, before moving to Washington, DC, where she met her first husband, Jack Howlett. Together they raised their family and were active in church and community activities. She had a long career on Capitol Hill where she held positions in several congressional offices. At the time of her retirement she was the Administrative Assistant to Congressman Sam Gibbons of Florida.

Jack died in 1977, and in 1979 she married Albert Buynitzky. After Albert's death in 1998, she moved to Summit Square in Waynesboro to be near her son and his family. She is survived by her son, Stephen Howlett, and his wife, Sara, son George Howlett, and his wife, Lee Ann, as well as three grandsons Jeffrey Howlett (wife Yvonne), Paul Howlett, and Matthew Howlett. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Sam, and two nieces, Susan Bryson and Julie Jones.

There will be a graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone, VA, on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 2 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to Summit Square Retirement Community, 801 Oak Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980.

Arrangements are being handled by McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro, and Joseph McMillian Funeral Home in Blackstone.
