Myrtle Bates Hailey

Myrtle “Sis” Bates Hailey, 90, of Crewe, VA, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.  She is survived by three children, Sandra Duffey (Jimmy) of Keysville, Jerry “Butch” Hailey (Linda) and Steve “Buster” Hailey (Lindsey), all of Crewe; six grandchildren, Jason Duffey (Alyssa), Mandy Lawson (Cale), Katie Hailey, Gerald Hailey, Maegen Hailey and Ryan Hailey; six great grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.  Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, Lizzy and Millard Lee Bates; husband, Gerald Hailey; sister, Doll Scruggs; brothers, Bud and Lee Bates.  She enjoyed singing and dancing, playing bingo, and loved her family and especially her grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Blackstone Chapel of the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA 23824.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services.  Burial will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, 22482 Prince Edward Highway, Rice, VA  23966.  www.mcmillianfuneralhome.com
