Myron Blankenship Obituary

Myron Lee “Toby” Blankenship of Crewe, VA, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his wife of 61 years, Karin Blankenship and his son, Brian Blankenship and daughter, Aimee Dalton.

He was born Myron Lee Blankenship on November 26, 1934, but to all who knew him he was Toby. Born in Lunenburg County, Toby never strayed far from his country home. He loved cars, especially those built before 1970. On Saturday mornings you would often find him changing the oil in one of his classic cars. In the Fall, you might find him in the woods cutting down trees for firewood. He enjoyed fishing and dove hunting and spent many a morning in a plowed corn field or on the banks of a pond. On summer evenings you could find him tending his garden. He loved Va Tech football, especially when they were beating UVa. He was also a fan of NASCAR and for several years made an annual pilgrimage to the Daytona 500. He spent a career in education but retired early to pursue his dream of driving a big rig. In his later years, he enjoyed spending his time with his four wonderful grandchildren - and the occasional trip to Las Vegas.

In addition to his wife and children, Toby is survived by his grandchildren, Barclay Ann Blankenship, Ellis Blankenship, Hewen Dalton, and Langley Ann Dalton; his daughter-in-law Mary Blankenship; son-in-law Trevin Dalton; and many friends.

Toby served honorably in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 12, 2024 in the Chapel of the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia, VA 23002.

In memoriam donations can be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children. PO Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438 or www.donate.lovetotherescue.org/
