Mabel Phillips Thorp

Mabel Phillips Thorp, 84, of Crewe, VA, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 21, 2010.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lelia and Jordan Phillips; sister, Annie Hudson and a brother, Cary Phillips.

Mabel is survived by her son, Michael Thorp (Julia) of Crewe; three grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Chelsea Thorp, all of Tennessee; three brothers, Loyd Phillips of Blackstone, Gordon Phillips of Kenbridge, and Bernard Phillips of Saluda; four sisters, Alma Scott of Washington, Lillie Lyall of McKenney, Mattie Brockwell and Pattie Sue Skinner, both of Colonial Heights; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M., Thursday, June 24, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd. Bus. Hwy. 460 near Blackstone. Chapel funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, June 25, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery, Blackstone.
