Linda Harris Johnson, 74, of Crewe, VA, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence Breeden and Rock Willard Harris; and her twin brother, Rock Willard Harris, Jr. Linda is survived by her husband of 40 years, Charles R. “Chuck” Johnson; her son, Charles Rock “Charlie” Johnson (Emily); her grandson, Max; her good friend, Audrey Schmidt (Don), and her special sister-in-law, Patricia R. Johnson.
Linda was a devout Christian, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a veteran educator, and a loyal friend to many. Upon graduating from James Madison University, where she played field hockey, Linda began her 39-year career as a history teacher at Nottoway High School. She was a dedicated runner and spent a great deal of time on the track with Anne Ingram and Bobby Bunting. She was a member of Crewe Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a philanthropist and loyal supporter of JMU’s, Virginia Tech’s, and Longwood University’s scholarships. She was an avid supporter of JMU’s and UVA’s athletics programs, and she loved and supported Monticello. Linda also loved the artwork of Eldridge Bagley, and she supported the Virginia Musuem of Fine Arts. Linda was a compassionate animal lover, especially of cats and dogs. She loved trivia and was a devoted fan of JEOPARDY and WHEEL OF FORTUNE. Linda was a member of several organizations and served in different capacities with clubs such as the Crewe Garden Club and the DAR. She deeply loved her family members and made them a priority throughout her life, and she never failed to support or care for a sick friend. She leaves behind a large extended family and numerous dear friends; she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Crewe Baptist Church, 400 East Virginia Avenue, Crewe, VA 23930. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice would be welcomed, any charity or scholarship fund.
