Karla Lea Ellington
September 19, 1959 - July 7, 2024
We regret to announce the passing of Karla Lea Ellington at the age of 64. Born on September 19, 1959, Karla led a life full of meaningful work and varied interests.
Karla is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Long, and her husband Kristopher, and her son, Duane Taylor, and his wife Jennifer. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Vaiden.
Karla was bitten by the travel bug and visited destinations all over the world. Most of her travels were done with a group of friends from Southside Virginia Community College. With them she visited Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa always with her camera in hand.
A talented photographer, Karla captured the beauty of her adventures and the world around her. For many years her photos were displayed in restaurants and businesses around the Farmville area. She had an eye for seeing the beauty in ordinary objects and bringing them to life through the lens of her camera.
She worked at the Community Services Board until her retirement and was an active volunteer, always ready to contribute her time and energy to her community.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nottoway County Virginia Animal Shelter.
Rest in peace, Karla. You will be missed. Arrangements are by the Crewe Chapel of the Joseph McMillian Funeral Homes. www.mcmillianfuneralhome.com
