Julia Springston Obituary
Julia (Judy) H. Springston, age 86, of Wilsons, VA, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, John Archer Hawkes and Mary Beth Hawkes, husband, William Springston, son, William “Marvin” Springston, and brothers (Bob and Tom Hawkes). Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen (Alex) and her son, John Ray (Robin), daughter-in-law (Margaret), sister Peggy (John), six grandchildren, Melanie (Ray), Will (Melissa), Holly (Scott), Al (Tracy), Jessica (Josh) and Jeffrey (Taylor). She was known as “Big Grandma” to her eleven great grandchildren and the first great-great grandchild due in September. Also left to cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews and friends.
Judy retired from Epes Supply after 54 years. Judy also worked for Jenkins Oil Company for 22 years. Judy was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Wilsons. She was the treasurer of the Rose Society for many years. Judy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel and spend time in her rose garden and was a very caring lady and always gave back to her community.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 5-7 PM at the Blackstone Chapel of the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone VA 23824. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 1 PM at Grace United Methodist Church, 1705 Cox Rd., Wilsons, VA 23894. Interment in the church cemetery.
