Jean Handy Lewis

Jean Handy Lewis, 86, of Blackstone, VA, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley T. Lewis. Jean is survived by her sons, Wesley L. “Monty” Lewis (Pat), and Bowman “Bo” Lewis (Gayle); grandchildren, Cody Lewis (Kelly), Casey Lewis, Amanda Rorrer, and Jenny Lewis Leynes; great grandchildren, Liam and Greyson Lewis, Elizabeth and Isabell Hill, Donald Henry, Jr., and Sonny “S.J.” Leynes, Jr.  She is also survived by her sister, Joan Hastings (Frank); and her brother, Richard Handy. 

Jean left a lasting impact on everyone she met.  She was deeply devoted to her church, her family and the Atlanta Braves team.  Jean was a nurturer to all and if you had the opportunity to spend time with her, you were guaranteed to leave with a full belly from a meal unlike any other. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M., Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Blackstone Chapel of the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA  23824.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Blackstone Baptist Church, 407 Main St., Blackstone, VA 23824.  Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone.  www.mcmillianfuneralhome.com
