Jason Roger Fleming, age 34, of Amelia, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Jason was born to Jimmy and Wanda Hood Fleming, both of Amelia, on September 4, 1990. In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by his uncle, Curtis Hood, as well as numerous extended family members, including Annie Ford Reames, who was like a grandmother to him.
Preceding Jason in death are his grandparents, Kyle and Patricia Hood and Roger and Francis Fleming. Sweaties, as he had been known since childhood, was a 2009 graduate of Amelia Academy, forever a proud Patriot. He was a farmer, working on his own family farm and also across so many farms in Amelia County. He was a small business owner of Absolute Weddings and Events with his business partner Ashli Tanner and was proud to be a hard worker and a generous soul.
There wasn't a thing on a farm that Jason wouldn't tinker with, even when he probably shouldn't have. And there wasn't anything that he couldn't teach you how to improve on, especially in the kitchen. Jason loved to cook for others and it was always incredible. He could never make the exact same thing twice because he went off of a little bit of recipe and a whole lot of taste testing.
Jason never met a stranger, and had a way of making all of his friends feel so important and at ease with him. Everyone knew they could call Sweaties for anything, day or night, and that he would be there, whether it was to go have fun, pull them out of the mud, or be there when their children were born. And as so many of his friends had children, Uncle Sweats was born. His godsons, Corbin and Cruiz, survive him, along with so many other kids who just knew that he hung the moon. Sweaties could often be found riding around with a dear friend's kid, taking them everywhere from hunting to getting a haircut to feeding the cows. You've never met a person that loved their family, friends, a Dodge, his headset, and a popsicle more than Jason. He was the sweetest, most gentle person in the world, and will be forever missed by everyone that loved him because Jason was just the coolest. He loved running errands with his mama, finding farm equipment to go buy with his dad, helping his uncle and family, time at the water with his friends, pretending to hunt at the club while secretly just wanting to cook for them all, and finding a good deal.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Amelia Academy, 8741 N. Five Forks Rd., Amelia Courthouse, VA 23002.
