James “Jimmie” Mason Snead, 79, of Crewe, Virginia passed away on February 2, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Addie Miles Snead. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Marsden Snead. In addition, he is survived by his daughter, Leigh Ann Jones (Chip) of Green Bay, and by his son, James William Marsden Snead (Lauren) of Blackstone. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Trip Jones, Grayson Snead, and Mae Snead. Jimmie loved to bird hunt and as a result, raised quail and trained bird dogs. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Every year, he cooked for the Labor Day Dove hunt picnic. Another passion was fishing. He and his son participated in the annual Cape Hatteras Angler’s Club tournament. Also surviving is his 13 year old Labrador Retriever, Cash, who was given to him as a retirement gift from the women of Citizen’s Bank and Trust Company where he worked for 44 years. Jimmie was also a past president of the Blackstone Ruritan Club.
Services will be held at Crenshaw United Methodist Church in Blackstone, Virginia on Sunday, February 9th, at 3 PM. A private burial will be held at the family cemetery on the farm in Crewe, VA. www.mcmillianfuneralhome.com
