James Ronald Childress, Sr

James Ronald Childress, Sr., age 83, of Church Road, VA passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kafka Childress; his parents, Joe and Hazel Childress; and a brother, Travis “Butch” Childress.  Jim is survived by his son, James R. Childress, Jr. (Francine); granddaughter, Sydney Childress; and grandson, Carson Childress.  He is also survived by two brothers, Sam and Donnie Childress; a sister, Doris Alexy (Sonny); and countless family and friends.  Jim loved dancing, music, travelling, fishing and family gatherings.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA  23824.  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4814 Courthouse Rd., Church Road, VA  23833 with military honors by the US Navy.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Believers Christian Fellowship, 8804 Wells Rd., Ford, VA  23850. www.mcmillianfuneralhome.com
