Horace Hudgins Adams, 92, a lifelong resident of Amelia Court House, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. He is one of 14 children born to James and Gracie Adams of Blackstone, VA. Horace is survived by his wife, Myrna Adams; three children, Susan “Sue Boo” Wilks (Bob) of Chesapeake, Bert Challis (Michelle) of Yorktown, and Rhonda Buracker (Bryan) of Forest; five grandchildren, Bobby Wilks of Chesapeake, Thomas Challis of Yorktown, Kristina Challis of Yorktown, Chris DeCoursey (Shelby) of Forest, and Bryan Buracker of Forest; two great granddaughters, Layne and Blakelyn DeCoursey. He is also survived by a sister, Lois Julian of Manakin-Sabot; and a brother, Howard Adams (Janis) of Bon Air.
Horace proudly served in the U.S. Army and returned to work on the family tobacco farm. After the decrease in tobacco farming, Horace began cattle farming and enjoyed working and raising his vegetable garden.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 6100 Tabernacle Church Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. The family will receive friends from 11-12 noon before the funeral services. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tabernacle United Methodist Church in his memory.
