Harvey Cain Obituary

Harvey R. Cain, age 83, of Blackstone, Virginia, died Thursday, October 11, 2007.

He was a native of Randolph County, North Carolina. Harvey was an avid gardener and a local well known yard man. He was a US Army World War II veteran, recipient of the Purple Heart, fought for his country in Europe and was wounded in France.

After the War, Harvey came home and entered the grocery store business. He was the owner and operator of Cain's Clover Farm Market, which later became Billy's Food Barn in Blackstone and also was a longtime owner and operator of Crewe Exxon Service Station.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Cain; two daughters, Cynthia Jenkins and her husband, Glenn of Richmond; Page Martin and her husband, Monty of Chester.; a grandson, Scott Patterson and a great granddaughter, Amyah Patterson, both of Richmond; a sister, Hallie Johnson; three brothers, Bobby and Cleo Cain, both of Ramseur, North Carolina; and Graham Cain of Asheboro, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until 12 noon on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Bus. Hwy. 460, in Blackstone. Services will be held following the visitation at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia with full military honors. The Reverend Scott Hopkins will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to your favorite charity.
