Gerald L. Ring

Gerald Lawrence Ring, age 68, of Blackstone, departed his friends and family on November 12, 2011.

He was born August 18, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ring; his ex-wife Judy McDougall; his sons Timothy (Cecilia) Ring of Blackstone, Andrew Ring, and Michael Ring of Massachusetts; and his daughters Kathy (Rob) Slabinski of Connecticut, Julie (Darrell) Ferguson of Maine, and Dianna (Barry) Lake from Massachusetts. His brothers included Tom, who is deceased, and Larry and Dan Ring. He has three grandsons, and two granddaughters.

Jerry, as he was known by his many friends and family, graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in 1968 with a degree in political science. This may explain his many letters to the editor in The Courier-Record, and other newspapers, and his involvement in political causes. He also worked for his Masters degree while attending the Harvard University extension.

Jerry earned a living by selling leather to many shoe factories, from Tennessee to Maine, Virginia to Europe. Later on in life, he worked for Enterprise car rental, and sold classical music on line.

Memorial services will be held at the Crenshaw Methodist Church this Thursday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 200 Church Street, Blackstone Virginia.
