George Hamlin Walker Jr.

George went to grade school in Blackstone Va and attended Fork Union Military Academy for four years and graduated in 1956. He did his tour of duty with the Virginia National Guard and his time in the army at Fort Jackson South Carolina and later attended the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee.
George worked at Southside Electric and N+W Railroad for 3 years. In 1963 he began farming his Mother and Father’s farm which he had always wanted to do since he was a boy. In 1964 he met Lynn Herder and they were married that same year. An opportunity came up and George and Lynn bought a store in Philadelphia and built the business to 12 stores specializing in fine cutlery and gifts and raised their children in Philadelphia.
George returned to the farm in 1990 and sold the farm in 1996 and obtained his real estate license and purchased a convenience store in Danieltown VA which he ran for 5 years. In 2007 George moved to Las Vegas NV where he was a fund raiser for organizations that included the Betty Ford Clinic, The United States Military Academy and The Naval Academy.
Since 2017 George had been living in Oceanside Ca in North County San Diego to be near his son and his family. George is survived by his daughter Carol and son George III, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Graveside funeral service will be held Saturday June 21, 2025, at 11:00 Am in Lakeview Cemetery, Blackstone, VA.
