G.L. Abernathy, Jr., 62, of McKenney, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Greenway Abernathy; daughter, Kim Bielmyer (Chris) of Wilsons; two stepchildren, Connie Crowder (Scott) and Charles W. Lundie (Donna) all of Disputanta; five grandchildren, Kaylee Bielmyer, Lauren and Jared Crowder, Grace and Joshua Lundie; two sisters, Gloria Cliborne (Douglas) of McKenney and Pam Buyalos (James) of Chester; brother, Wilson Abernathy (Joni) of Petersburg; two aunts, Ruby Hart of Hopewell and June Adkins of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M., Sunday, February 13 at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd. (Bus Hwy 460) near Blackstone. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., February 14, 2011 at Asbury United Methodist Church, McKenney with burial to follow in Asbury Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to McKenney Volunteer Fire Department, 10507 Doyle Boulevard, McKenney, VA 23872.
