Florence F Cummins

Florence F. Cummins, of Blackstone, VA, 101 years, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Carl and Florence Fahrbach.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Attorney George S. Cummins. 

Florence was a graduate of the Marinello School of Cosmetology in Philadelphia followed by work in beauty salons there and Newark, New Jersey.  Upon marriage, she settled in Blackstone, Virginia and became a stay-at-home mother.  She was a member of the Blackstone Presbyterian Church and choir member over 60 years, along with serving as closet keeper in the church to help the needy in the community.  In 2013, Florence received recognition for her service in women’s work with an Honorary Life Membership Award. 

She is survived by two sons, Charles B. Cummins of Blackstone and Deane L. Cummins of Blackstone; grandson, George Douglas Cummins of Roanoke, VA; three nieces, Kim Carmean of Minnesota, Dr. Kelli Carmean of Kentucky, Melody Green of Clarksville, VA; and one nephew, Carl W. Fahrbach of Burkeville, VA; Grand nieces, Linnea Thiem and Margot Rosales

  A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 P.M. in the Blackstone Presbyterian Church, 301 Church St., Blackstone, VA, 23824 on Sunday, October 26, 2025.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Blackstone Chapel of the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA  23824.
