Eula Lunsford Anderson passed peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at her home in Jetersville, VA. Born September 29, 1931 to Annie Mae and Mark Lunsford, Eula carried throughout her life the values of faith, hard work, family, and quiet kindness.
Upon graduation from high school at the age of 16, Eula became a teller at a local bank. There in 1951 she met Elmer Anderson. Other lines might be shorter, but he always chose her line. Nine months later they were married, beginning a partnership that would span 64 years.
In 1966, Eula took a part-time job with the Jetersville Post Office, and because of her dedication and dependability, she was appointed Postmaster five years later. She retired in 1992 and, always desiring to help others, she spent the next 12 years volunteering at Southside Community Hospital.
Shy by nature and happiest away from the spotlight, Eula nevertheless touched countless lives through her generosity, creativity, and steadfast devotion to family and faith. She played piano at Jetersville Christian Church, baked and created intricately decorated wedding and birthday cakes, and prepared countless meals for family gatherings. Thanksgiving was never complete without her famous yeast rolls, treasured so much that children often schemed to claim the leftovers before anyone else could.
Eula found beauty everywhere. She loved hummingbirds and flowers and usually had blooms from her own yard on the dining table. She was an accomplished oil painter and also loved to crochet, stitching beautiful Afghans, baby clothes, hats, and gifts for family, friends, and local charities. She had a gift for creating things that brought comfort and joy to others.
Though deeply rooted in her small community, she possessed an adventurous spirit. At age forty, she embarked on a trip to the Holy Land with her sister and cousin. She enjoyed traveling, and lasting memories were made on annual vacations with her daughter.
Above all else, Eula loved her Lord and her family. She could often be found with her Bible resting in her lap as she studied God's Word and drew comfort from its promises. Her faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in the kindness, patience, and grace she extended to others.
In addition to her parents, Eula was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer Anderson, her daughter-in-law Annette Anderson, and her sisters, Vivian Lunsford, Betty Bowman, and Judy Werner.
She is survived by her children, Ray (KC) of Martinsville, Marvin of Jetersville, and Virginia of Amelia; two grandchildren, Katie Cordani (Matt) of Land O’ Lakes, FL and Andy Anderson (Mandy) of Benson, NC; six great-grandchildren Morgan, Cameron, and Mariah Cordani and Brody, Violet, and Eli Anderson. She is also survived by two sisters, Janice Lewis of Crewe and Carol Duff of Lynchburg.
While her family grieves her absence, they find comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with loved ones and has entered the presence of the Savior she faithfully served throughout her life.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Friday, June 19th, 2026 at The Gathering, formerly Jetersville Christian Church, 21750 Farmers Lane, Jetersville, VA 23083. Visitation will be held an hour before the services in the church.
