Ellen Marie Thompson

Ellen Marie Lowery Thompson, 77, of Blackstone, VA, formerly of Edgewater Park, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Heritage Hall with her family and loving nurses by her side.  She was a retired Administrative Assistant of almost 20 years for United Way of Greater Mercer County in New Jersey.  Ellen was a devoted wife and loving mother and she loved to crochet and knit.  She is survived by her husband, John N. Thompson; son, John W. Ryan III of N.C.; daughter, Sara R. Gilmore (Francis) of Blackstone; 10 grandchildren (Tessa Gilmore, Madison Jarrar, Drake Gilmore, John Gilmore, Lilly Gilmore, Jon “Casey” Ryan, Hunter Flowers, McKenna Flowers, Sloan Sanders and Alex Rowland); great granddaughter (Bella Flowers); and great grandson (Waylon “Jamie” Sanders).  Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Dandridge and Mary Ellen Lowery; and sister, Donna Powell. 

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Monument Cemetery, 812 Bridgeboro Road, Edgewater Park, NJ  08010.  Arrangements are by the Blackstone Chapel of Joseph McMillian Funeral Homes.  www.mcmillianfuneralhome.com
