Dorothy Ann Barnes Irby, 77, of Blackstone, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
She is the widow of Edwin Turk Clay and Joseph M.H. Irby and also preceded in death by her son, R.B. Barney Bolter. Dorothy Ann is the daughter of the late Eddie and Virginia Barnes of Lunenburg County.
She is survived by a son, David W. Bolter, and a daughter, DeeAnn B. Barksdale (Ricky), all of Blackstone; daughter-in-law, Gail H. Bolter of Kenbridge; sister-in-law, Gail B. Johnson (Craig) of Branford, CT; six grandchildren, Barney H. Bolter (Michelle), Melinda B. Womack (Richard), Mandi B. Herring, Erica B. Hazelwood (Brad), Megan V. Barksdale, and Trey Barksdale; seven great-grandchildren; our extended Clay and Irby families; numerous nieces, nephews, friends; and a special caregiver, Jean Bullock of Kenbridge.
Dorothy Ann retired after 25 years of service as Secretary of the Lunenburg County Juvenile Domestic Relations Court. She was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Blackstone.
The family will receive friends, 6 8 p.m., Friday, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road (Bus. Hwy. 460) Blackstone, VA 23824. A Christian Burial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the funeral home with interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone.
