Dorothy “Doran” Hallett Goodwin, born June 27, 1941, passed away from glioblastoma on December 24, 2024. Doran was born in Crewe, Virginia to George Cridland Hallett and Dorothy Virginia Jenkins Hallett. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael William Goodwin. After graduating from Longwood University in Farmville, VA, she completed her Masters of Education at the University of Virginia. A longtime resident of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Doran taught 6th grade for Fulton County Schools and was a member of the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. She requested that donations be made to SSUMC in lieu of flowers. Her ashes will be interred with her son’s alongside her parents at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Crewe, Virginia. A service will be held at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 10am.
Graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 1:00 Pm at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Blackstone Chapel of the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home.
