David William Day, 69, of Blackstone, Virginia, formerly of Richmond and Portsmouth, VA, died Saturday, January 3, 2009.
He was a US Marine Corps veteran and volunteer of McGuire VA Hospital, where he received commendation certificates for his hours of service. He was a former Chef for The Circle in Portsmouth, retired restaurant manager, carnival operator, as well as a former K-9 Police Officer.
David is survived by three nieces, Elizabeth Horton of Chesterfield, VA, Sharon Marsh of McKenney, VA, and Charlotte Jones of Blackstone, VA; and a nephew, Philip Marsh of McKenney, VA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sherryll Lea Day Marsh.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Chapel of Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia, VA 23002. The Rev. Richard Crowder will officiate.
His remains rest at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Business Hwy. 460, near Blackstone, VA 23824.
