Cheryl Puryear Elkins

Cheryl Puryear Elkins, 66, of Blackstone, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, with her children by her side.   She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie C. Puryear and father, Herbert W. Puryear.  Cheryl is survived by her four children, Lindsey Puryear (Brandon), Jason Puryear (Claudia), Emily Puryear, and CJ Elkins; a grandson, Theodore Puryear-Santillán; a brother, Adlai French (Linda); nephews, Jeffrey French (Kimberly) and Tommy French (Shari); and their families.

Cheryl cared very deeply for her kids; she would do anything for them.  She enjoyed spending time with her kids and their families.  She really loved her grandson, Teddy, and enjoyed sharing photos and stories with everyone she saw.  Cheryl was a store clerk for several local businesses, namely at the Blackstone Antiques and Crafts Mall and Kangaroo (formerly Etna). The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Johnston-Willis Hospital and Farmville Health & Rehabilitation for taking care of her in the final months. 

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M., Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA  23824.  Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M., Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the funeral home with interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone.  www.mcmillianfuneralhome.com
