Long time Hampton resident Carolyn Morgan passed away peacefully on the morning of February 27, 2025, after a long illness at the age of 83. Carolyn is survived by her son, Chief James P. (Phil) Morgan, her granddaughter Isabelle C. Morgan both of Green Bay VA, and her sister Charlotte Welch of Raleigh NC. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Welch, and her husband James B Morgan, both of Hampton. She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and sister.
Carolyn was a career educator teaching and serving as librarian in elementary schools in both Hampton and Georgia for over 36 years. Her post-retirement life saw her working at the Virginia Living Museum where she was able to continue to educate. She will be remembered for being a kind and compassionate person who always placed other’s needs before her own, and for her love of animals, especially her dogs of which she had many and seemed to greatly miss when she was stricken ill.
A celebration of life will be planned at a date to be determined in Carolyn’s hometown of Hampton, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family request that her memory be honored in the form of a small contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association. https://www.alz.org/
