Carla Reames Obituary

Carla Hardy Reames on April 9, 2026, departed for Heaven in the early morning hours from her home on the farm where she loved to go walking.

Carla was born April 13, 1955, and lived four days short of her seventy first birthday, and just one month shy of her fifty-first wedding anniversary. She was the wife of W.T. Reames III and the mother of four sons that she loved deeply as portrayed by her license plate HV4 SONS.

She was preceded in death by her father, Claude H. Hardy and in-laws, Willfred T. Reames, Jr., and Jean W. Reames.

She is survived by her husband, W.T. Reames III, mother, Billie M. Hardy, sister, Laura Dillie (John), sons, Will T. Reames IV (Katie), Andrew H. Reames (Becky), Matthew C. Reames, Stephen C. Reames (Hannah), grandchildren, Layton Reames, Caleb Reames, Olivia Reames, Cheyenne Reames, Walker Reames and step grandchild, Wyatt Wingo. Her nephews, John Dillie, Jr., Martin Dillie, Aunt, Nancy Smith and numerous cousins.

Carla graduated from High School in 1973 then went on to attend Pan American Business School. She began working for Wilson and Warren Attorneys, where her close lifelong friendship began with Judge Thomas V. Warren.

With the birth of her first child, she came home to raise children and help on the family farm.

Her love for family was evident in all she did, including sewing clothes for her children and baking. Some of her passions in life were her beautiful flowers, gardening, canning and playing the piano.

At the age of 52, she entered the nursing program at Southside Virginia Community College. Being named to the President’s list for grade honors numerous times. Carla graduated with a 4.0 G.P.A. and was employed at Midlothian Family Practice Concierge at Westchester.

Carla’s life was deeply rooted in church work. She was a long-time member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, Bible School Director, Christmas Play Director, President of United Methodist Women, Chairman of Trustees, and a member of the Building Committee that rebuilt the church after a fire in 1996.

In recent years, Carla attended Rocky Hill Methodist Church. Unfortunately, because of declining health she was unable to be as involved as she had been all her life. Carla loved attending Sunday Services, where she was welcomed by a loving, family and fellowship driven atmosphere. At this splendid church with an old time gospel message, she would often encourage others to attend.

Carla was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, which immediately forced her retirement. She endured ten years and two months of constant treatment and serious complications. Carla wanted to leave this world telling people to never lose hope.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Iuorno for his devotion to her until the end. Also, thank you to the huge number of friends which spanned a large portion of Southside VA. Who helped constantly the entire time.
