Carl Lester Rowe
November 26, 1950 – May 03, 2025
Carl Lester Rowe, 74, of Blackstone, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 03, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 26, 1950, Carl was a husband, father, grandfather, avid outdoorsman who loved his dogs, and a steadfast friend to many.
A proud U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, Carl served his country with honor and dignity. After his military service, he dedicated many years to life on the open road as a truck driver, earning the respect of all who shared the highway with him. Known for his strong work ethic and steady presence, Carl was respected by coworkers and friends alike. His love for the open road was matched only by his deep passion for his dogs and the outdoors, and teaching his grandchildren how to play baseball.
A lifelong hunter, Carl found peace and purpose in the woods. He had a deep respect for the land and passed on his knowledge and love of dogs to family and friends alike. His stories of hunting adventures, full of humor and wisdom, will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Carl’s greatest pride in life was his family, whom he loved fiercely and supported unconditionally. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether around the dinner table, out in the woods with his dogs, at the baseball fields, or simply sharing stories and laughter. He will be missed more than words can express, but his memory will live on in the stories shared, the traditions passed down, and in the hearts of those who loved him. Carl was devoted to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, who were the pride of his life. He instilled in them values of resilience, kindness, and hard work, always offering a listening ear and steady guidance.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life: M. Loucille Rowe of Blackstone, Virginia, four daughters: Katina Rowe of Arlington, Virginia, Lora (Ted) Plummer of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Regina (Joe) Turley of San Tan Valley, Arizona and Deborah (Brian) Weltch of Burkeville, Virginia, as well as numerous grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5 - 7PM at the Crewe Chapel of the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 200 West Carolina Ave., Crewe, VA 23930. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia Court House, VA 23002.
