Betty Jean Rutledge Braun, age 81, of Blackstone, VA passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026 at her home with her family by her side.  She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Edward Richard Braun III; daughter, Angela Hancock of Victoria; son, Dennis St. John of Blackstone; three granddaughters, Ashley Dowling (Jared), Chrissy Hancock (David Cleaton), and Autumn St. John; five great grandchildren, Elias, Wesley, Caleb, Natalie and Ashton; sister-in-law, Rose Rutledge; and several nieces and nephews.  Betty was a hardworking woman and was the former owner of BJ’s Cleaning Service.  She loved her flowers, decorating for holidays and family get-togethers. Betty loved her family and was loved by many.  She will be missed.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, Sep. 30, 2026 at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA  23824.  Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. following visitation in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone. www.mcmillianfuneralhome.com
