Anita Turner Long, 71, of Wilsons, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Donald Ward Long, parents, Margaret Louise (Berger) Turner of Chester, VA and Roosevelt Turner, Jr. of St. James City, FL., Granddaughter, Summer Anne Harrison. Anita is survived by her children, Hamilton Long(Rebecca) of Kodiak, AK, Michelle Millis (Jason) of Ford, VA, Matthew Long (Sharon) of Wilson, VA, Carrie McSherry(Daniel) of North Dinwiddie, VA, and Stacie Harrison(Matt) of Sutherland, VA; grandchildren, Jacob Long (Courtney), Eric Long (Delacey), Tatianna Johnson (Eric), Hunter Millis, Conner Millis, Cody Long and Aaron Long, Chandler McSherry, Grace Lail (Wyatt), Madison McSherry, Riley McSherry, Lincoln McSherry, and Langley McSherry, Nicholas Harrison and Avery Harrison; great grandchildren, Matilda Long, Theo Long and Arthur Johnson; brother, David Turner (Naviny) of Lanexa, VA, sister, Debbie Collins of Ft. Myers, FL. She obtained her RN through John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA. Anita worked for 34 years at Southside Regional Medical Center in the med-surg unit, post-partum, nursery and dialysis units. She had several hobbies that she enjoyed, camping, gardening, going to the beach, reading, cooking, snuggling with her dog, Minnie and mostly spending time with her grandkids.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 15, 2025, from 6-8 PM, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Blackstone, VA 23824. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Long Family Cemetery, 5318 Grubby Rd., Wilsons, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Susan G.
