A. Daniel Obituary

A. Harris Daniel, 87, of Blackstone, VA, died Friday, October 24, 2008. He is the widower of Phyllis Rancke Daniel.

Harris is survived by a son, Harris W. Daniel and his wife, Patricia of Williamsburg, VA; granddaughter, Meredith D. Ensign and her husband, Will; grandson, Liam Ensign, all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; brother, Arthur Radcliff Daniel, Jr., and his wife, Eva of Emerald Isle, N.C.; and a sister, Dorothy D. France of Uniontown, Ohio.

He served as a Major in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Blackstone VFW Post #7897. He was a retired Administrator for the Virginia United Methodist Assembly Center, having worked 33 years and retiring in 1990. He was past President of the Blackstone Lions Club.

Harris was also past President of the T.P.A. (Traveler's Protection Association), Virginia Division and the former President of the National T.P.A. He was Past Master of the Blackstone Lodge #79 A.F. & A.M., Past District Deputy Grand Master for the 27th Masonic District, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past High Priest of the Royal Arch Chapter #63 and thrice Illustrious Master of the Grand Council of Virginia.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at the Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 200 Church St., Blackstone. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Monday, October 27, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Bus. Hwy. 460, near Blackstone.
